COMPANY

It was created in 1891 with the mission of providing transparency to the acts of the Government of São Paulo through the newspaper Diário Oficial do Estado, which today has more than a thousand employees. It has gone through many transformations during its history, starting as a purely graphic representation, then becoming a written newspaper, gaining autonomy to become a news agency distributing information about the State to other newspapers and magazines, and finally assuming the responsibility of being the State’s Digital Certification Authority.

CHALLENGE

The growth of the company and the increasing complexity of its processes created a challenge to improve the management of its costs, expenses and results, requiring a solution that would complement the Accounting Department.

SOLUTION

The company decided to develop a hybrid model of costing software, combining an ABC (Activity Based Costing) model with a fixed and variable cost model. This model offers management views in various dimensions with all the detail necessary to make informed decisions.

RESULTS

The first version of the system has already been tested and a second version is rapidly being developed based on user feedback. The managerial reports are produced more often and with a single source of information guaranteeing more accuracy and agility. The software also enables the user to make analyses that use scenarios and simulations, adding greater richness to the company’s strategic discussions.
